When it's time to start being more conscientious about screen time.
When it's time to start being more conscientious about screen time.

I'm addicted to my screen time and I'm guessing you probably are too. It's 10 pm and I’ve been on this thing for the better part of my day. Right now I’m being productive as I write this article but unfortunately, that’s not always the case. A title wave of information washes across our screens every day in an endless flood of competition for our attention. It’s easy to get sucked in. Marketers have become brilliant at finding ways to provoke a response or grab attention, especially from audiences that are unaware how deeply they are being manipulated. They seem to know what triggers us and how to keep us engaged for as long as possible. It is a well-oiled machine and recently I’ve found myself spending way too much time on my devices. Some of it can’t be helped because it is my job but there are other times when I look up and I suddenly realize I’ve been on my iPad or phone for an hour or more with absolutely nothing to show for it.

Most of us, whether we want to admit it or not, are deeply addicted to our devices. We wouldn’t dream of leaving the house without them or spending a day without them. Yes, I’ll admit it, I’m addicted to mine but not all screen time is bad. For all the time I’ve wasted on nonsense, there is also the tremendous amount of time I've spent being amazingly productive, learning & advancing my career and making a living. So where does that leave me and millions of others just like me? If I am to be completely honest with myself I'll admit that I need to be much more conscientious about where and how much time I spend on my devices. My goal moving forward is to be more aware of how and when I'm using my devices and if it's not benefiting me to simply put them down and find a better use of my time. How are you doing with your screen time?
