Busy and productive are not synonymous.

There is a strange gap between busy and productive. Somehow the two have become synonymous but that's not always the case. Being busy is not the same thing as being productive. When we are being productive that means our time is being well spent and what we are doing is meaningful.  Being busy for the sake of being busy probably means we are hiding from something or trying to fool ourselves into thinking what we are doing is important. Being busy is a form of avoidance behavior. It become procrastination that's easy to get away with. Sometimes we don't even realize it ourselves. Have you ever reached the end of a very busy day only to find you've accomplished almost nothing? 

In our society, we tend to wear busy like it's some kind of badge of honor. It comes up in our conversations, in our texts, email, social media, all the time but what are we really saying when we tell colleagues and friends that we're "busy"? Why do we all reward busy if it's not productive? Maybe it's time we rethink the idea of what it means to be busy because I don't know about you but I think being productive is way better than "being busy"
