What happens when you finally stop trying to outrun your emotional baggage?
What happens when you finally stop trying to outrun your emotional baggage?

What kind of baggage are you carrying? We all have something, some of us just carry a little more than others. What if you could finally let it go, even if it were just to put it down for a few minutes? How would that make you feel? Emotional baggage is heavy, it gets in the way and it always seems to show up at the worst possible moments. As tempting as it feels to hang on to it and just keep pushing it down, maybe there's a better way. Maybe it's time to stop running.

When we practice forgiveness we can begin to allow ourselves to let go of some of that baggage we carry. I can think of a million things I've held onto that go back as far as my childhood. Every now and again when the rain clouds begin to gather they pop up and I find myself going down that same old dark familiar path. I turn them over in my mind, pull them apart and dissect them in a million different ways. Why do we feel the need to hang on to the things that don’t serve us well? If it were someone else I would have forgiven them long ago. Living up to impossible standards is exactly that, impossible. Maybe it’s time to finally forgive and let go.
