How Enthusiastic Are You?

How Enthusiastic Are You?

From the Greek meaning inspired, being enthusiastic means being eager or passionate. It is a positive energy that can spread. It’s one of those character traits where you can truly “fake it until you make it” — just the act of trying to be enthusiastic will make you more enthusiastic! Enthusiasm is also the “secret sauce” for success in whatever you endeavor — enthusiasm itself won’t guarantee success, but without enthusiasm, success will be elusive.

This week’s Challenge: This week, I will choose to be enthusiastic about something, and watch the positive energy that unfolds.

Avoiding being Hyperactive (overuse): Enthusiasm to the extreme becomes hyperactivity — being unusually active, excitable, or high-strung. The insight about which you were enthusiastic becomes lost in the chaos of activity — it becomes excitement for excitement’s sake. If you feel you’ve crossed that boundary, then take a moment to slow down and refocus your energy on your true intent.

Commendable Trait: Enthusiastic

Underused: Apathetic

Overused: Hyperactive

Strength: Inspiration

Quadrant: Resilience

“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
